Kevin Riford
On October 7, 2024, I was detained at my home by deputies from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office. I later learned the next day that I was being arrested on allegations of criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration. You can read more about that here.
The police report alleges that I caused damage to a table, couch, kitchen cabinets, and various other household items. However, the two individuals present at the time — Katie and Joanne Riford — explicitly declined to press charges against me. Despite their refusal, I was still taken into custody.
What’s more troubling is that I later discovered one of the responding deputies allegedly told my mother, Joanne Riford, that “they would have to charge me with something.” This statement raises serious concerns about the motivations behind my arrest.
Subsequently, I obtained photos and video evidence recorded by my mother, in which she clearly documents the condition of the items in question. In the footage, she identifies each item listed in the police report and confirms that none of them show any signs of damage. Her visual testimony directly contradicts the claims made in the sheriff’s report.
The facts suggest that the charges brought against me were exaggerated — or entirely fabricated — in an apparent attempt to justify the excessive force used during my arrest. The actions taken by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office demand further scrutiny.
Below are several videos of the property the Niagara County Sheriff’s claimed I damaged which were not. To view the entirety of evidence, please download the zip folder.
